She goes to a club to celebrate her internship with her best friend who is her roommate. She gets a journalism internship and is excited for it. She is attending college and only has a few months left before she graduates. Persephone is a Goddess who disguises herself as a mortal and lives in the mortal world. If the author had included these moments I would've rated the book higher. We only got to see big moments filled with tension and got brief descriptions of the activities they shared together. One issue I have with it is I feel like the author cheaped out on the small moments that develop a relationship. Generally, the book does a good job at developing the relationship between characters. The instant attraction is developed and plays nicely into their long term dynamic. It makes sense in the storytelling and the love story does have to be developed in 400 pages. This book does have instant attraction between the two, but this is something that can be overlooked. I figured I would give it a try and didn't have high hopes after Neon Gods.
Afterwards I went looking for a different novel and discovered this under Kindle unlimited. It was a rushed attraction between characters with little development behind it. I started reading Neon Gods at Tik Toks suggestion and couldn't stand it. If you love Greek mythology or even just the myth of Hades and Persephone I definitely recommend this series. I’m excited that it is being continued as a series, and even a set of books from Hades point of view. I found myself cheering in my head as she gave a couple people their comeuppance.Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I also loved when Persephone came into her power. I really enjoyed the peppering in of different gods, and their interactions with Persephone. The chemistry and heat is there immediately, but I loved how they challenged each other as well.
I loved the development of Persephone and Hades’ relationship. Once I was a few chapters in I was completely hooked, and it became hard to put the novel down.
